Here's where you can find information on each of us. In alphabetical order:
Diana has been dancing a variety of dance styles since the age of seven. As a child, she would perform a Jig for her grandfather in exchange for a dollar and permission to walk to the candy store. As a teenager, she fell in love with Jazz after attending the Montreal Jazz Festival. In college, Diana majored in African American History, studying the Harlem Renaissance, Swing music, and the Lindy Hop. She began dancing Lindy Hop in Boston in 2001. She has won awards in Lindy Hop and Ballroom dance competitions. She currently teaches at the Its All Swing studio in Boston. Diana is a kindergarten teacher in Boston. She loves inspiring people to learn new skills.
Rachelle is a Canadian in exile. She has been partner dancing since 1995, with a focus on Lindy Hop since 1998, although she still enjoys many other partner dances (like Hustle!). She has been on the Lindy Hop competition circuit since 2002, and really enjoys dancing to fast tempos. Rachelle's day job involves research on the molecular basis of the hot taste of chili peppers (seriously!).
Jay is an active DJ in the Boston area, and has worked to bring faster, more exciting music from the original swing era into the modern dance scene. Together with Sarah, to whom he has recently become engaged, he teaches the beginner class at Swing City on Friday nights. Jay's solid aerial moves add a thrilling component to his routines. Sadly, Jay no longer works for Ben'n'Jerry's, so the team no longer gets ice cream.
Melanie was born in Ottawa, Canada. She learned to swing dance in Baltimore before moving back to Boston to be with her now husband, Michael. While her first love is always Lindy Hop, she also enjoys West Coast Swing, Charleston and Collegiate Shag. By day she does research in infant language development.
Mike started dancing because Melanie dragged him to a class. He started learning Lindy Hop in 1999, and now he's Mike #5 of the infamous Five Guys Named Mike. He also enjoys other dances, especially Collegiate Shag and Hustle, though not at the same time.
See Davis dance. See Davis swing dance fast. See Davis blues dance slowly. See Davis dance Balboa. See Davis procrastinate at work while practicing choreography in his cubicle. See Davis's dancing spring to life with magical pixie dust applied by Fritz before every practice, social dance, and performance.
